When your hurt, where do you run?
Do you run to your momma, to cry on her shoulder?
Do you seek your father,to hear his sweet comfort?
Do you call a pastor, in search for prayer?
Do you schedule a coffee date with a friend, just for a sweet embrace?
No matter where you go, each place has something in common.
The place for healing is a safe place.
It’s there the tears flow free and the truth is reveled. It’s there the mending process begins. Each of us may choose an earthly place to find comfort, but there is a place that surpasses all it’s in the middle of our heavenly fathers arms.
There, He offers us rest. He restores. He heals. He listens. He comforts. He does what our heart needs not out of His own satisfaction but out of His love for us.
We are a hurting people, yet we seek the wrong comfort. Your mother, father, pastor, and friend may help but they won’t always be there. Our Father never fails us, never leaves us, and never stops loving us. He’s always there to heal us.
So when you’re hurting and your mom isn’t there, your dad is busy, your pastor is at a conference, and your friend has better plans turn to the one who doesn’t change. He is our safe place. He is our refuge.
